2017

Happy New Year.

A successful blog must be frequently updated, contain pertinent information to readers, and be cleverly written.  For those who have stumbled along this blog, it is certain that none of the three have been followed.  To that point, the 2017 "blog resolution" is to have at least a comment or post for each of the 12 months of the year...seemingly, not too daunting of a task (?).

While my PADI certification started over 20 years ago and my pro status nearly 10, I'm looking for some possible changes in this area.  More to come and, hopefully, more diving, too.

MAST Training Workshops and Annual Dinner

"Maritime Archaeological Survey Team, or MAST (www.ohiomast.org), is a nonprofit avocational group dedicated to the documentation of Ohio's underwater historic resources.  Formed in 2000, MAST is composed of volunteer individuals who support and participate in research, documentation, underwater archaeological surveys, and educational workshops..." (Ohio Mast and National Museum of the Great Lakes flyer, retrieved 2016).

Training workshops for both entry level novice and advanced MAST training are now scheduled for April 9 & 10, 2016 with an "in water" training of EITHER May 21 OR 22 (you can select).  Additionally, the MAST Annual Dinner Meeting is being held Saturday evening, April 9th, 2016 (6pm) at Maumee Bay State Park Lodge.  The full, fun details are listed on the group's website and is just another example of how Ohio diver's can "get wet" without needing to spend thousands ($$) on an exotic, blue water adventure.

Goodbye 2015

We've lived through, thankfully, another 365 days and will soon be closing 2015.  While I've had many new and exciting experiences (a new professional job, working a summer job with the state department of agriculture, building a sweet deck onto our home, and purchasing my first ever NEW truck), I've missed the water.

I did get the chance to do some private scuba lessons earlier in the year. Regardless, I missed out on lots of summertime diving and teaching...which also means missing out on lots of fun companionship time, too. My promises to myself for the new year will include several typical items: try to be in better physical condition and health, organize and declutter, and MAKE TIME TO DIVE MORE!!!

I hope to see you all at the local dive sites in 2016...& maybe at a watering hole after.
